put this in a room with a 3d printer and its made a HUGE difference in the PM2.5 when printing. Love the improved air quality.
It is hospital grade pure air and I have it and two other winix air purifiers. My house is pure air and I live on two acres in a forest with clean air....I am 83 and have NO BREATHING PROBLEMS. I only wish I had bought them sooner.
I bought this air purifier so I could smoke cigars in my basement when the weather outside is too cold or rainy. The air purifier is effective. Not 100%, but significantly better than my existing one. However, it is LOUD. Overall I recommend it because it eliminates smoke and odor in a much greater amount, and at a a greater rate and speed than all others that I have tried. And, a few hours afterwards, there are no traces of any cigar smoke or odor.
Simple, solid construction. I have bought multiple units and they all arrived with imperfect paint, falling dial stickers, etc. Quality control is not one of their strengths, which is disappointing given the price. However, the design and filter performance is very utilitarian.
We bought a new couch and chair for our living room. The off-gassing from VOC's was intolerable for me. I could not breathe or be anywhere near the new furniture. This machine cleared all the smells out right away and now I can sit in the living room. I won't be able to sit on the chairs for some time since they are still off gassing but at least now I don't have to stay in the bedroom with the door closed! This is a great product. Not too large like some air purifiers and very easy to set up a use. I could not be more pleased with this product.
We now have four of these units in our home, as our allergies are terrible. They run 24/7/365, usually on level 1, except for during allergy season where we will run them on higher levels. These are great at helping our allergies and cleans the air inside our house. I actually appreciate that they give a clear time limit for their filter life of max 5 years. The only thing is that they are becoming more and more expensive. The first one that I bought about 15 years ago was around $300, and now they are over $700, and filters are around $250 and rising as well. They do what they claim though, and I appreciate how well they work, so we will continue to make the investment every 5 years to replace the filters, our allergies are worth it. We have one in each bedroom, and then one in the living room.On level 1, they are difficult to hear, but on level 3 they are obtrusively loud. It can be nice white noise at times though, but know that at the highest setting it is considerably loud.
My neighbors like to burn wood. This would be fine with good lumber and a well maintained fireplace, but no. The idea was to save money and they were burning anything that would burn. The proof of this wisdom was the yellow walls in their house which were once white. So I became an air purifier expert of sorts. Not scientist, but also not a "trusted reviewer" with a website of Amazon links. There are two things an air purifier can do for you. (1) It can filter out small particles in the air. This is an easy and relatively inexpensive thing to do. Any unit with a HEPA filter wil do this. Get the biggest one you can, that does not have an ionization feature and you're done. I'd reccomend the Honeywell HPA 300. It moves a lot of air, can be placed near a wall (nothing goes in or out the back) and filters are reasonable. You'll be impressed at how much dust this thing traps.Item #2 is where BIG problems come in. Whereas a $99 purifier will catch dust, viruses, pollen etc., it will do almost nothing about noxious, poisonous fumes. Yes, smoke has particles of soot, ash, etc, but this dirt is carried along by VOCs, aka poisonous gases. Same as car exhaust, fresh paint, bug spray and so on. And I'm sorry to tell you, these gasses, like carbon monoxide and formaldehyde, sail right though a HEPA filter. The solution is charcoal filtration. Lots of it. Pounds of it. And for some reason, this is very expensive. A charcoal impregnated sheet or screen will work for about an hour during a fire before it becomes saturated and worthless. The IQ Air Multigas units have the charcoal needed to do the job. But besides the cost, they emit their own smell. This small is a lot nicer than smoke from a wildfire but it's still there and shouldn't be. The other popular high end units, Blue Air do not appear to have enough charcoal to do the job but I have not tried one so I can't say. The obscure Air Pura can do the job and is priced accordinly. And then there's the Austin Healthmate Pro. The Ausin is utterly no-frills but it has a monster charcoal filter and as far as I can tell, does not emit any odor of its own. Everything else about the Austin is disappointing; it's noisy, and the metal housing makes it even more so, the power cord is annoyingly short and with no place to store it, and if you want to mess with timers, Bluetooth connections or Alexa, you won't find any of that. But this is a real purifier; just a fan and a filter and most of the money has gone into that filter.I don't know if it's the high cost, or the assumption that people just want a dust filter, but even reputable sites like Consumer Reports and Wirecutter struggle with the cost/benefits of the few, really good air purifiers. But when your phone says "Air Quality Hazardous" what makes it hazardous is VOCs. The vast majority of air purifiers--certainly the affordable ones--will not lay a glove on these gasses. In summary: Buy a cheap air purifier and your eyes will burn from the smoke, but you won't have to dust as often.
I have been wanting to purchase an air purifier for a long time. I did a lot of research, and I kept reading that this model was the best on the market. It's costly but absolutely worth it. I've been recommending this to my friends and family, and I plan to purchase more (especially the smaller bedroom version) in the future.I purchased this because I needed something to eliminate the odor from a cat litter box. I keep mine in my basement, where there is minimal to no air flow. This means the stagnant air just sits down there--and so does the smell. I have three cats, and even though I take great care of the litter box, there is still a smell. (Anyone who has tired to clean up cat urine from carpet knows what I'm talking about. It's almost as if nothing will get rid of those silent odors!) It takes A LOT to eliminate that ammonia smell from the air. I tried everything--air fresheners, essential oils in vapes, candles, fans, opening windows, and even strong incense. Nothing worked because it was all just trying to mask the smell. Finally, I did my research on air purifiers and learned I needed something with activated charcoal. Otherwise, I'd be right back where I started just trying to mask the smell. Maybe now is a good time to note that my sense of smell is exceptionally heightened, so the cat box smell just really go to me.I purchased this, and it removed the scent within a few hours. That's it! Incredible! When you walk into my basement, it literally smells like NOTHING. It doesn't even have that typical basement smell. It's just clean, fresh air, and I don't know how I lived my life without this thing. Some features:1. There are three levels. The lowest level is completely silent. The medium level only has a subtle noise. We have it on that setting all day, and it doesn't bother us at all. Our basement is finished, and the purifier is right by our basement living room. We watch TV and movies without any issues. Then there is the high setting. That's the loudest, and that's the level I leave the purifier on at night.2. It is a pro at clearing out the air. My husband blew his vape smoke into the air, and it sucked that smoke out is record time. As you can see, I was thoroughly impressed. And my husband is thrilled that I'm not always complaining about him polluting my air supply anymore. :)3. It has suctions on all four sides and a blow out area on just one side. So it is sucking in air to clean from all sides (360 degrees) and conveniently releasing fresh air on just one side. This allows you to strategically place the purifier for optimal benefit.I HIGHLY recommend this model if you're looking for an air purifier that also eliminates odors. It works fantastically and is well worth the cost.
